Outdoor Lab locations for autism bike, scooter, skateboard, and rollerblade training.
Virginia – Northern Virginia (Fairfax, Vienna, Arlington, Ashburn-coming soon)
Our Northern Virginia outdoor training labs are located at Virginia Highlands Park in the Crystal City area of Arlington and along the W&OD Trail near the Vienna Community Center in Vienna, Virginia. Due to their flat, open, and accessible terrain, we selected these locations as ideal training environments for beginner riders and first-time bike learners.
After evaluating multiple parks across Fairfax and Arlington counties, we found that many areas contained steep slopes and uneven terrain that were not conducive to early skill development. Virginia Highlands Park and the W&OD Trail provide safer, more controlled environments where participants can build confidence, balance, coordination, and foundational riding skills at their own pace.
North Carolina – Wilmington
Our Southern outdoor training lab and research located in Wilmington, North Carolina, with primary training lab locations at UNCW and Ogden Park.
Wilmington was selected due to its flat terrain, favorable weather conditions, and access to a wide variety of outdoor recreational environments. These factors allow us to conduct year-round recreational research, training programs, and skill development activities across multiple disciplines.
