🛹 Skateboarding Program (Kids on Wheels)

At Round 7, we believe that what once seemed impossible can become achievable with the right structure, patience, and training. For many families in the autism community, skateboarding often feels like one of those “cool kid” activities that may seem out of reach. At Round 7, we are proving that with the right approach, these dreams can become reality.

Skateboarding is considered the crown jewel of the Kids on Wheels department because it represents one of the highest levels of balance, coordination, and confidence development within our wheeled skills pathway.

We have witnessed children across the spectrum—including Level 3 support needs—progress through our structured phases to reach advanced stages of skateboarding. What some may see as unrealistic is something we see as achievable through the right method, training progression, and encouragement.

Skateboarding is Powerful for development, it provides a high-value sensory integration experience that supports physical and neurological development. It naturally engages multiple sensory systems simultaneously.

Skateboarding supports: Balance development (vestibular system), Body awareness (proprioception), Surface feedback (tactile input), Visual tracking and focus, Motor planning; Emotional regulation through movement.

These elements often help improve: Body control, Self-regulation, Stress management, Focus, Confidence

Why Choose the Skateboarding Program?

The Skateboarding program at Round 7 is more than just a recreational activity—it is a pathway to independence, confidence, and real-world mobility. For many parents of children on the spectrum, developing balance and movement skills is a major milestone. Skateboarding introduces dynamic balance and body control that can translate into everyday independence and participation in outdoor environments.

Our approach emphasizes long-distance, controlled riding, helping children develop the ability to move with confidence across parks, sidewalks, and community spaces. This is not just about learning to ride—it’s about giving your child a lifelong skill that builds freedom, confidence, and physical capability.

Think of this program not just as recreation, but as an investment in your child’s ability to move, explore, and participate in the world around them.

What Makes Our Skateboarding Program Different?

Our program stands out because we train using standard, off-the-shelf skateboards, not adaptive equipment. This ensures that children are learning real-world skills that directly transfer to everyday environments.

We also understand that every child learns differently. Many of our athletes—including non-verbal children—are highly capable of learning through observation, repetition, and structured physical guidance. Our coaches adapt to each child’s learning style to ensure progress, safety, and success.

Our goal is simple: meet the child where they are and guide them forward.

What is our training method?

Most of our training program will be run with flexibility, consistency, and high demands for the spectrum kid athlete and coaches. We purposely want to send shock wave to the nervous system of every spectrum kid athlete and break their body free and force the brain to follow. We know that these kids are capable of many things and we want to add skateboarding and other physical activities to the list.
